The mission of the Decatur Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our community by providing an environment where people can live safely and without fear.

The men and women of the Decatur Police Department are committed to serving the citizens of Decatur by providing quality services to the community by utilizing both time-tested methods and innovative approaches to crime prevention and enforcement. We will continue to adhere to the highest ethical and moral professional standards and safeguard the constitutional rights of all people. Our communication with the public will be direct, open, and respectful. We will value our differences, recognizing that there is strength in both. Our goal is excellence and we will accept nothing less.
