Electrical Qualification Exams

Qualification exams for electricians are administered by the Construction Industries Board at the Building Department. Exams are ordered from Block & Associates in Gainesville, Florida. Exams are given on the last working day of each month. You must submit your application and $40 fee to the Building Department by the first day of the month in order to take the exam on the last working day of that same month. When the applicant is scheduled to take an exam, a letter is sent reminding them of the time, place and date of the examination. When the grade is received, the applicant is sent another letter informing them of the score.

Qualification Card Renewal

Electric Contractor's qualification cards must be renewed in January of each year. Electrical contractors are given written notice that qualification cards need to be renewed every January.
