LEASH LAW
The City of Decatur has a leash law (Section 4-2, Code of Decatur) which states that it is unlawful for the owner or person in charge of any premises to permit or allow any dog or puppy residing there either temporarily or permanently to be off such premises or property unless under the control of a competent person either by leash, chain or other restraint sufficient to physically control said dog or puppy at all times.
First time offenders will be issued a warning ticket for violation of Decatur City Ordinance Leash Law. Second time offenders will be issued a $25.00 fine which is payable at the Municipal Court Office and any subsequent violation will result in a citation requiring court appearance.
